Looking back at the Fall

The Gamecocks aim to keep the strong play they displayed in the fall rolling through into the spring. Carolina won two tournaments in the fall, the Windy City Collegiate Classic and the Landfall Tradition. The Garnet and Black finished the Windy City 14-under, the fifth best 54-hole tournament score in program history.

The Windy City Collegiate Classic also gave Carolina one of its highlights of the fall when freshman Pauline Roussin-Bouchard took medalist honors. Roussin-Bouchard finished with an 11-under 205, and her 7-under second round set a new record for a lowest round by a Gamecock freshman. Seniors Ana Pelaez and Lois Kaye Go had phenomenal showings at the Windy City as well with both women tying for 11th place finishing 1-under.

At the Landfall Tradition the Gamecocks used strong second and third rounds to pull away from the competition to finish 7-under, five strokes clear of their nearest competition. Pelaez finished the fall in style with a 5-under 211 to take second place, her highest finish since earning medalist honors at the 2017 NCAA Columbus Regional. Roussin-Bouchard earned her second top 5 finish with a 3-under to tie for third place.

Entering the Spring

Carolina starts its spring off ranked fifth in the latest Golfstat team rankings and ninth in the final Golfweek team rankings of the fall. Pauline Roussin-Bouchard holds the No. 1 spot in the Women’s Amateur Golf Rankings, No. 6 in the Golfstat individual rankings and No. 7 in the Golfweek rankings. Lois Kaye Go comes in at No. 24 in the Golfstat rankings while Ana Pelaez holds the No. 39 spot.
