- After making its dominance in the paint felt around the country, the Gamecocks have lit things up from 3-point range in recent games. Over the last five outings, which included three games against ranked opponents, South Carolina averaged 7.4 made 3s, up from 5.1 entering the stretch. Six Gamecocks hit at least two 3s in the last five games, led by Zia Cooke’s nine.
- Both the Wooden Award Late Season Top 20 and the Naismith Trophy Midseason Team included Aliyah Boston and Tyasha Harris. The two are also in the top 10 for the Lisa Leslie and Nancy Lieberman Awards, respectively.
- Senior Mikiah Herbert Harrigan has elevated her game yet again over the last three outings, averaging 15.3 points and 7.3 rebounds. Ever the solid team player, she also handed out 2.7 assists per game in that stretch.
- Senior Tyasha Harris has proven to be one of the most efficient and reliable point guards in the country. Ranked 11th in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.7), only three of the 10 ahead of her on the list hand out more assists per game than she does (5.4) Just one of those – Sabrina Ionescu (Oregon) – joins Harris in averaging double-figure points as well.
- Freshman Zia Cooke’s offense exploded over the last four games, including three against ranked opponents, averaging 15.5 points and 2.3 assists while shooting 47.4 percent (9-of-19) from 3-point range over the stretch. Her hot shooting included a 4-of-4 showing from beyond the arc against Auburn. Her 39.3 percent 3-point shooting this season leads the Gamecock guards and is second only to the 45.9 percent of Herbert Harrigan, who has attempted 52 fewer 3s.
- Forward Aliyah Boston has 10 double-doubles through 25 games. That mark already ties the Gamecocks’ freshman record for double-doubles, set by Alaina Coates in 2013-14.
