Gamecocks Return to Course Monday in Myrtle Beach

Carolina making its fourth all-time appearance at the General Hackler Championship

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. South Carolina returns to competition on Monday at the 2020 General Hackler Championship. Teams will play 36 holes tomorrow with the final 18 holes taking place on Tuesday at Dunes Golf & Beach Club.

“We always enjoy competing in the Hackler,” said head coach Bill McDonald. “The Dunes Club is one of my favorite courses in the Myrtle Beach area, and it’s in great shape. Our guys have had a couple of weeks to prepare and make adjustments since Houston, and I’m looking for more energy and a sharper competitive focus this week.”

It’s the same five-man lineup as the All-American Intercollegiate (Feb. 16-18) for the Gamecocks with the order shuffled slightly featuring sophomore Ryan Hall, senior Jamie Wilson, senior Caleb Proveaux, junior Andrew Spiegler and sophomore Harry Corbin. Junior Jack Parrott will be competing this week as an individual for Carolina in his spring debut.

The Gamecocks are making their fourth appearance at the General Hackler Championship and first since the spring of 2018. Carolina won the tournament in its first ever appearance in 2016, shooting 841. Three-time All-American and current PGA TOUR standout Matt NeSmith took home medalist honors to pace the Gamecocks.

South Carolina is paired with host Coastal Carolina and Wisconsin for the first two rounds on Monday. Corbin will lead things off for the Gamecocks on the back side of the course at 7:40 a.m. ET on hole 10. Live scoring will be available throughout the day via Golfstat.

McDonald broke the previous record of nine wins held by Puggy Blackmon (1995-2007) with Carolina’s victory at the Carpet Capital Collegiate in September 2014.
