Gamecock Men and Women Open Season Monday at Blessings Collegiate Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — South Carolina men’s and women’s golf opens the 2020-21 season on Monday morning at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational. The 54-hole stroke play tournament features all 14 SEC men’s and women’s teams.
 
“Well, we’re just excited to play. A lot of schools aren’t playing golf this fall – we’re one of the lucky ones,” said men’s head coach Bill McDonald. “Really proud of all the coaches in the SEC, the administrators, athletic directors and presidents for allowing us to put together what I think is going to be three of the best amateur events in the world. We’re getting it started this week in Fayetteville, and it’s going to be a great showcase for our conference I’m sure.”
 
“I appreciate the continued commitment by the SEC, it’s coaches and our athletic departments for creating opportunities for our teams to compete this fall within a safe environment,” said women’s head coach Kalen Anderson. “We’re very much looking forward to competing against the rest of our conference at a fantastic event this week.”
 
It’ll be the first of three, all-sec events for the men. The women will play in the East Lake Cup and one more All-SEC tournament this fall.
 
Golf Channel will be bringing fans live coverage at Blessings Golf Club every day from 3:30-7:30 p.m. ET. There will be team and individual champions this week as well as a combined men’s and women’s winner
 
Graduate senior All-American Jamie Wilson headlines this week’s lineup on the men’s side. He’s joined by fellow graduate senior Caleb Proveaux, senior Jack Parrott, junior Ryan Hall and sophomore Jack Wall. It’s the same lineup Carolina had for all five fall events last season. Proveaux and Hall have played the course in competition already at the 2019 NCAA Championship. Parrott also has experience at Blessings, as he was the team’s substitute at NCAAs two years ago.
 
The women will be led by a pair of All-Americans in senior Lois Kaye Go and sophomore Pauline Roussin-Bouchard. They will be joined by graduate senior Pimnipa Panthong, sophomore Mathilde Claisse and freshman Paula Kirner. Panthong is a transfer from Kent State where she was a three-time All-American and two-time MAC Golfer of the Year.
 
The Gamecock men will tee off at 11:08 ET on hole one Monday. The women will go off at 12:55 ET on hole 10 in the first round.
