Gamecocks in Fourth After Opening Round at The Ally
WEST POINT, Miss. – South Carolina’s women’s golf team got out to a strong start at The Ally on Monday, shooting a 1-under 287 to sit in fourth place after the first round at the Old Waverly Golf Club.
Freshman Paula Kirner had her best round as a Gamecock so far, shooting a 1-under (71) with four birdies in the round. Sophomore Pauline Roussin-Bouchard matched that 1-under (71) with five birdies on the day, while senior Lois Kaye Go also finished the round at 1-under (71) with five birdies. All three are tied for 10th place.
Senior Pimnipa Panthong battled back from a rough front nine to sink three birdies and shoot 3-under on the back nine, finishing the day at 2-over (74). Sophomore Mathilde Claisse tied Panthong’s 2-over (74) and the pair are tied at 31st heading into round two on Tuesday.
The Gamecocks tee off at 11:30 a.m. ET on Tuesday.
