COLUMBIA, SC. — No. 15 South Carolina men’s tennis picked up its second win in as many matches with a 7-0 victory over Presbyterian Saturday morning at Carolina Tennis Center.

In doubles, the top two teams broke out to early leads and never looked back as Connor Thomson and Phillip Jordan staked out a 5-0 lead before Presbyterian got on the board. After that quick 6-1 win at the top of the lineup, Paul Jubb and Beau Pelletier carried the point with a 6-3 win in the No. 3 spot.

The Gamecocks brought much of the same on most of the six courts with Presbyterian only scoring one service break in the early games of the first set.

Jordan doubled the South Carolina team advantage with an efficient 6-1, 6-2 win in the No. 4 spot – one of the most consistent producing positions in the Gamecocks’ lineup this season. The top of the lineup sealed the victory as No. 38 Raphael Lambling rocketed through his second set to a 6-3, 6-0 victory in the No. 2 position, and No. 36 Daniel Rodrigues delivered a 6-1, 6-1 win at the No. 1 spot.

Quotable Josh Goffi
“It was a great day for the team coming off a tough Indoor run and heading into SEC season. Everybody went out there and took care of business, 100 percent focused from start to finish. That’s what we were looking for today.”
