Gamecocks in the Show Update - August 3

The Major League Baseball season is in full swing with eight Gamecock alumni on rosters, one making his debut in the show and one continuing his All-Star performance of last season. Here’s a recap of the first 10 days for the Gamecocks in the Show.
 

• Jackie Bradley Jr. (Boston Red Sox) – Bradley Jr. is hitting .276 with four runs scored and three RBI in nine games for the Red Sox. He had two highlight-reel catches in center in the first weekend against the Baltimore Orioles.
• Grayson Greiner (Detroit Tigers) – Greiner has split time at catcher for the Tigers with Austin Romine. He has played in five games with seven at-bats and a run scored.
• Whit Merrifield (Kansas City Royals) – Merrifield has a league-best 25 total bases to go along with eight runs scored, three doubles and three home runs for the Royals in 10 games. He had back-to-back three RBI performances at Detroit on July 27-28.
• Jordan Montgomery (New York Yankees) – Montgomery had a stellar first outing of 2020 on July 31 against Boston in Yankee Stadium. The southpaw allowed just one run with four strikeouts in 5.2 innings pitched to earn the win.
• Justin Smoak (Milwaukee Brewers) – Smoak has four hits, three runs scored and a home run in six contests for the Brewers. He hit his first home run in a Brewer uniform in Wrigley Field on July 25 in a win over the Cubs.
• Christian Walker (Arizona Diamondbacks) – Walker is hitting .314 with five doubles, six runs scored and six RBI in nine games for the Diamondbacks. Walker was 2-for-4 with three RBI in a win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on July 31.
• Tyler Webb (St. Louis Cardinals) – Webb has made three appearances for the Cardinals this season, striking out a pair of batters in 2.1 scoreless innings pitched.
• Taylor Widener (Arizona Diamondbacks) – Widener made his Major League debut on July 25 at San Diego, striking out a batter in 1.2 innings of relief. He then pitched a scoreless inning on August 1 against the Dodgers with a strikeout.
