No. 3 Gamecocks Host Lynchburg in Spring Opener
COLUMBIA, S.C. – The University of South Carolina equestrian team starts its spring slate on Friday when it hosts the University of Lynchburg for a jumping seat competition. The western side of the team will compete against each other in a scrimmage.
Spectator Information
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic fans will NOT be allowed at OneWood Farm during the meets this spring. Limited access for family members on the team’s guest list will be allowed, but anyone not already on the list will NOT be permitted into the facility.
What You Need to Know
The Gamecocks (1-2, 1-2 SEC) finished the fall at No. 3 in the NCEA rankings after picking up a win against No. 4 Georgia and dropping contests to No. 1 Auburn and at No. 7 Texas A&M.
Junior Sloane Vogt earned multiple honors with her performance in the fall, including the SEC Reining Rider of the Fall award, and the NCEA Reining Rider of the Month award for November.
Sophomore Madeline Schaefer also laid claim to some NCEA distinction with her NCEA Over Fences Rider of the Month award in November.
Scouting the Hornets
Lynchburg is in its second year of NCEA competition and did not compete in the fall. The Hornets went 0-5-1 last season.
