Softball Announces Slew Of Alterations To 2021 Schedule

All dates and times are subject to change with the possibility of more games to be added at a later date.

COLUMBIA, S.C. —- No. 19 South Carolina softball announced a slew of changes to the 2021 schedule on Friday. Alterations include playing host to Duke and Seton Hall in the Gamecock Invitational, a trip to Charlotte being dropped and a pair of SEC series shifting days. In total, the schedule is finalized with 54 games with 34 taking place at Carolina Softball Stadium at Beckham Field.

All dates and times are subject to change with the possibility of more games to be added at a later date.

The first changes take place during the Gamecock Invitational, scheduled for Feb. 26-28, with Duke and Seton Hall being added to the schedule. Carolina will now face off against the Blue Devils and Pirates alongside fellow tournament foe Longwood.

As for the conference slate, the Gamecocks’ three-game series against Missouri has moved up a day and is now scheduled to start Thursday, April 1 at 6 p.m. ET. The two teams continue competition the following day at 6 p.m. before concluding the trio of games on Saturday, April 3 at 2 p.m.

The Tennessee series has shifted, as well, moving back a day and is now scheduled to start Saturday, April 17 at 6 p.m. ET. Carolina and the Volunteers return to the diamond the next day for a 2 p.m. first pitch before closing the three-game series on Monday, April 19 at 6 p.m.

Per South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster’s Executive Order of July 29, 2020, stadiums and athletics venues were permitted to open and exceed the order’s guidelines if the department “can satisfactorily demonstrate an ability to comply with federal and state COVID-19 procedures and protocols to the Department of Commerce.”

Capacity for this season will be reduced to approximately 400 ticketed patrons (28 percent of normal capacity) with a ticket pod system utilized. There will be approximately six feet of distance between the pods. Facial coverings will be required for staff and fans at all times at the stadium, and patrons also will be required to follow the SEC and University fan safety guidelines.

At this time, all 400 allotted seats have been sold. Additional season tickets, as well as walk-up tickets, will not be sold this season.

Unfortunately there will be no on-field recognitions, so the Field of Dreams and Bat Girl programs will not be taking place during the 2021 season.

For any questions about ticketing for softball this spring, reach out to the Gamecock Ticket Office at 803-777-4274.
