The Gamecocks were a perfect 3-0 on the weekend in a sweep of Dayton.

COLUMBIA – The University of South Carolina baseball team swept its opening series with Dayton, putting up 12 runs apiece in the first two games and winning the finale, 5-1.

NOTES:
The Gamecocks hit .356 as a team in the three games, slugging at a .703 clip. Carolina had 19 extra-base hits, including seven home runs, in the three games.
 
Wes Clarke led the offensive arsenal, having a weekend to remember. Clarke was 7-for-10 with seven runs scored, two doubles, three home runs and nine RBI. Clarke had 18 total bases and walked five times for a .800 on-base percentage to go along with his 1.800 slugging percentage.
 
Brady Allen (.556) and Colin Burgess (.500) each hit .500 or above on the weekend. Allen had four extra-base hits in the three games and walked four times. Burgess had five hits, a home run and four RBI.
 
Thomas Farr had an impressive Opening Day outing, striking out eight and allowing five hits and a run in six innings of work. Farr picked up his fourth career win at Carolina in helping the Gamecocks to the Friday win.
 
Julian Bosnic set a Carolina record with eight consecutive strikeouts in Sunday’s game. Bosnic broke the record, held by Adam Hill and Alex Farotto. Bosnic ended up with nine strikeouts in 3.1 innings pitched.
 
Carolina’s pitched allowed just seven runs in three games, compiling 37 strikeouts and holding Dayton to a .130 batting average.

South Carolina wraps up the homestand Tuesday afternoon against Winthrop before facing in-state rival Clemson this weekend.
