Hall Powers Gamecocks in Second Round of LSU Invitational

BATON ROUGE, La. – Junior Ryan Hall is T-2^nd heading into Sunday after a lights out 68 (-4) today in the second round of the LSU Invitational. The Knoxville, Tenn., native is 3-under overall through 36 holes, one shot behind Ole Miss’ Jackson Suber.
 
Hall’s day got off to a tough start as he made double bogey at the par-4 second hole. He bounced back though going birdie, eagle, birdie at holes five through seven to make the turn at 1-under. Hall was bogey free coming in with three birdies on the back nine. The three-year starter and 2019 PING All-Southeast Region selection is seeking his second-straight top-five finish and the second win of his career heading into the final round.
 
Powered by Hall’s low score, the Gamecocks shot 2-over (290) as a team to move into fifth on the leaderboard. No. 11 Florida, the only team to post a red number on Saturday, shot 7-under to move into 1^st at 3-over, three shots in front of No. 6 Illinois. The Gators’ Yuxin Lin shot a field-best 66 (-6) to move into a tie with Hall for second.
 
Sophomores Jack Wall (73, +1) and Nick Mayfield (75, +3) each were counting scores for Carolina. Mayfield is T-12^th at 2-over for the tournament. He’s seeking his first top-10 in Garnet Black in his lineup debut.
 
Super senior All-American Jamie Wilson was the final counting score with a 74 (+2). Fellow super senior Caleb Proveaux, the five-man this week, shot 75 (+3).
 
South Carolina will be paired with No. 22 Tennessee and Arkansas State for Sunday’s final round. Proveaux leads things off at 10:20 a.m. ET.
