The Gamecocks went 3-1 on the week, taking a series win over LSU.

COLUMBIA – The University of South Carolina baseball team went 3-1 on the week, winning a pair of 9-0 games and a come-from-behind 4-2 win over LSU.

NOTES:
The Gamecocks earn their second road series win of the season, sweeping a doubleheader at LSU on April 17 by scores of 4-2 and 9-0.
 
Brady Allen had the game-winning 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning in game one. He followed Braylen Wimmer’s 2-run double that tied the game at two.
 
David Mendham was 7-for-14 for the week, driving in four with a double, a triple and two home runs in the four contests.
 
The Gamecocks completed the doubleheader sweep with a 9-0 win over LSU as Will Sanders pitched six scoreless frames. He is now 6-1 on the season with a 2.11 ERA and 40 strikeouts in 38.1 innings pitched.
 
Carolina’s pitching staff had a 2.03 ERA on the week with 33 strikeouts. Jack Mahoney struck out seven in five innings of work on Tuesday against Charleston Southern, moving to 2-0 on the year on the mound.
 
The series win at LSU was the first by the Gamecocks in Baton Rouge since 2013.
 
Josiah Sightler belted Carolina’s second grand slam of the season in the 9-0 win over Charleston Southern. It was the first since Opening Day when Andrew Eyster hit a grand slam..
 
The Gamecocks do not have a midweek game, so the next series is against No. 1 Arkansas at Founders Park this Thursday through Saturday (April 22-24). Thursday’s game will be televised on SEC Network.
