Carolina went 2-2 on the weekend with wins over North Florida and Mississippi State.

COLUMBIA – The University of South Carolina baseball team went 2-2 on the week, defeating North Florida on Wednesday and Mississippi State on Sunday.

NOTES:
Carolina walked off Mississippi State on Sunday afternoon as David Mendham’s RBI double scored Jeff Heinrich for the 4-3 win. It was the fourth walk-off of the season and third at Founders Park.
 
Jeff Heinirch had two hits in the Sunday win, one an RBI double in the ninth as a pinch hitter that tied the game at three and one in the 11th that started the rally.
 
Brett Kerry pitched six innings of relief on Sunday, allowing just one run with six strikeouts, keeping the Gamecocks in the game that came out in Carolina’s favor. Kerry now is 3-1 with a 2.25 ERA in 14 appearances.
 
George Callil had the game-winning hit on Wednesday in the 8-7 win over North Florida. His 2-run single in the seventh lifted the Gamecocks to the win. Callil has 15 RBI this season.
 
Carolina will go into the Kentucky series fourth in the SEC East and seventh overall with two weeks left in the regular season. Carolina is a half-game ahead of Alabama and a game ahead of Georgia and Kentucky in the overall standings.
 
Before the trip to Lexington, Carolina will wrap up the three games against Clemson with a Tuesday night matchup at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. First pitch is at 6 p.m. The Gamecocks won the first two contests on walk-off hits from Andrew Eyster.
