Fox Named to SEC Soccer Community Service Team
COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina freshman goalkeeper Taylor Fox has been named to the SEC Community Service Team, the league announced Tuesday afternoon.
Fox, who started six matches for Carolina this season, has shown a passion for helping out in the community. She has taken part in a variety of events and found ways to help people of all ages.
Since arriving on campus, the Titusville, Fla., native has impacted the Gamecocks both on and off the field. She worked with the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) to sign Valentine’s day cards to be delivered to the children at Prisma Health Children’s Hospital. She also aided on two projects with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). She worked on a blanket drive that collected over 700 blankets and distributed them to Transition Homeless Shelter, Providence Men’s Home, Hannah House and Oliver Gospel Mission. Fox also aided on a Shoe Box Drive that provided over 700 shoe boxes for two different schools. Each shoe box was filled with school supplies and wrapped. She also aided the Harvest Hope Food Bank by volunteering to arrange the pastries and breads in the storage warehouse into in-date and out-of-date bins.
On the field, Fox secured a pair of clean sheets in her first season with the Gamecocks. Fox was the first goalkeeper to secure a shutout in her NCAA Tournament debut since Sabrina D’Angelo (2011) in the 1-0 win over Montana. Fox made a total of 12 saves and held a goals against average of 0.50, just 0.07 off the Carolina freshman record held by Mikayla Krzeczowski in 2016.
