Gamecocks Earn Top-50 Doubles Upset on Wolverine Invitational Day 1

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – South Carolina women’s tennis completed day one of the Wolverine Invitational in which doubles team Elise Mills and Lindsay Tulenko upset their No. 37 opponents. Tulenko and newcomer Misa Malkin also won their singles matches, doing so in straight sets.
 
Gamecock Notables

  • Newcomer Misa Malkin defeated Ohio State’s Madeline Atway 6-4, 6-4 for her second singles win this fall.
  • Tulenko faced Lina Ali of Ohio State, taking down the Buckeye 6-2, 6-4.
  • Mills and Tulenko downed No. 37 Page Freeman and Julia Lilien of Notre Dame 6-3, marking the pair’s first win over a ranked opponent.
  • In their first doubles match of the day, Mills and Tulenko posted a commanding 6-1 win over Merri Kelly and Anca Craciun of host Michigan.

 
South Carolina will play two rounds of singles on Saturday for day two of the tournament.
