Play Suspended Late in Round Two of Stephens Cup
Gamecocks T-3rd, Fournand in second at 2-over par thru 13 holes of second round
ROLAND, Ark. — No. 8 South Carolina is T-3rd with Ole Miss late in the second round of the inaugural Jackson T. Stephens Cup. Play was suspended due to darkness at The Alotian Club Monday evening. The Gamecocks are currently 19-over, one shot behind No. 3 Arkansas and seven shots back of LSU.
The team shot 300 (+12) in the opening round earlier in the day.
Junior transfer Justine Fournand is in second place on the 36-player leaderboard at 2-over for the tournament thru 13 holes in round two. She opened the day with a 1-over 73.
Junior Mathilde Claisse, the lone returner in the lineup this week from last season, is T-12th at 6-over. She led after 18 holes shooting an even par 72. Claisse is tied for the field lead with seven birdies.
Freshman Hannah Darling and grad transfer Tai Anudit are both T-16th at 7-over. Freshman Louise Rydqvist is in 30th at 12-over.
The Gamecocks, who were paired with Ole Miss and No. 4 Virginia today, will make a push tomorrow to try and earn one of the top two seeds for the match play portion of the tournament which begins on Wednesday. A stroke play team and individual champion will be crowned on Tuesday.
