
Six Gamecock Men's Soccer Players Earn Academic All-District Honors
The Gamecocks had six of District 4's 15 honorees
COLUMBIA— Six members of the South Carolina men’s soccer team were awarded CoSIDA Academic All-District honors, the association announced Thursday.
Josh Corning, Jared Gulden, Parker League, Brian Banahan, Logan Frost and Andrew Halloran were all chosen to the CoSIDA District 4 All-Academic team.
The honors recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performance on the field and in the classroom.
Corning was chosen with a 3.97 GPA as a senior studying International Business. On the pitch for the Gamecocks, he logged 1,335 minutes, which was the second-most on the team. He put up five shots, including one shot on goal for Carolina this past season.
Gulden has earned a 3.56 GPA throughout his five years as a student at South Carolina, studying Marketing. Gulden has been a key piece for Carolina and has been a foundation for the Gamecocks. He scored his first career goal on Sept. 21 against Mercer and earned an assist in the Gamecocks’ Oct. 12 victory against Georgia Southern. Gulden logged 1,226 minutes this past season.
League has earned a perfect 4.0 GPA through his first three years in Columbia, studying International Business. League led the Gamecocks in minutes played during the 2021 campaign with 1,401 minutes on the pitch. League scored a goal against Presbyterian College on Sept. 7 and was credited with an assist against Winthrop on Aug. 29.
Banahan was honored with a 3.70 GPA with a Management major. Banahan scored three times during the 2021 season for Carolina. He netted goals against Winthrop (Aug. 29), Georgia Southern (Oct. 12) and Old Dominion (Nov. 5). Banahan’s three goals this past season totaled the third-best mark on the team.
Frost has earned a 3.71 GPA as a junior studying Management. Frost was tied for the team lead in goals (four), assists (three) and points (11). He was named Conference USA Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 12 for his performance against UAB where he scored two goals in a 2-0 shutout victory. Frost also led the Gamecocks in shots (28) and shots on goal (11).
Halloran has kept up a 3.65 GPA through his four years as a Marketing student at South Carolina. Halloran scored his lone goal of the season against Georgia Southern on Oct. 12. Halloran played in all 16 matched for the Gamecocks this past season and logged 611 minutes.
