"Welcome Home" Campaign Aims to Provide Some Relief in Challenging Times

by Brad Muller, Director of Content

Every team needs difference-makers. As Shane Beamer prepares for his first season as the head football coach of the Gamecocks, South Carolina Athletics is excited to bring back its biggest difference-makers; you, the fans.

In addition to financial support, the Gamecocks need you at the games.  Gamecock Athletics knows the importance of having our team play in a packed house at Williams-Brice Stadium. That’s why the “Welcome Home” campaign will see football season tickets for the 2021 season rolled back until June 25 to the 2010 prices, when coach Beamer was previously on staff. In short, fans will save $95 per season ticket. We are confident that your continued support will get our programs where we all want them to be.

The financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic will continue to be felt for the foreseeable future, which will affect all of our athletics programs. That’s why the Gamecocks still need your help and support, and fans are encouraged to consider donating all or part of their $95 savings to the Athletics COVID Resilience Fund if possible.

Many Gamecock Club members have already made a difference by taking part in our “Reinvest for Success” campaign with the donation of their 2020 dues at a time when the pandemic limited the number of fans who could come to games. In fact, 91 percent of Gamecock Club members chose to reinvest in our student-athletes, while 75 percent of the members left the entirety of their 2020 membership intact. Even with that support, the Athletics Department will still incur a dramatic shortfall in its revenue which is needed to run all our programs.

“During the past year, I’ve seen firsthand how the pandemic has impacted so many in our Gamecock family,” Athletics Director Ray Tanner said. “It is our hope that come this fall, we have put these challenges behind us and are making new memories of Gamecock Saturdays at Williams-Brice Stadium.  We have worked to create a program that would be a great value for our fans while hoping that you will continue your traditional outstanding support our student-athletes, who represent our University so well and have endured so much this past year as well.”

While the pandemic has affected everyone in some way, South Carolina Athletics sees a light at the end of the tunnel with the distribution of vaccines and continued best practices by fans everywhere. If our community continues to trend in the right direction, then the opportunity for Saturday’s in the fall to become a little more normal is there.

The Gamecocks are hopeful that everyone will look forward to enjoying their gameday traditions and fill up Williams-Brice Stadium to create a home field advantage.

Coach Beamer and his staff are doing their part to build the football program into something Gamecock fans will be proud of and having its biggest difference-makers back in the stands is a way to help them get there.

Welcome home, Gamecock Nation.
