South Carolina Announces Partnership with Altius Sports Partners to Help Prepare for New NIL Landscape

– Firm to provide the Gamecocks with support around NIL, including the development of innovative educational opportunities

The University of South Carolina is proud to announce a new partnership with Altius Sports Partners (ASP), a name, image and likeness (NIL) advisory and education firm, to aid the school with its NIL related activities. ASP will provide strategic guidance and educational support through customized NIL programs tailored to the needs of the school’s athletic department and student-athletes. The programs will include management of NIL rule changes, maximization of new opportunities, and helping South Carolina create unique platforms for its student-athletes to learn about and capitalize on the new NIL rules.

ASP offers its partners a team of industry leading voices to help guide and educate all stakeholders on the impacts and opportunities related to NIL rule changes. By collaborating with ASP, South Carolina and its student-athletes will be well-positioned to successfully navigate the NIL policy scheduled to go into effect in 2021.

“We are pleased to partner with Altius Sports Partners, who will guide us through the ever-changing Name, Image Likeness landscape,” said Athletics Director Ray Tanner.  “There remains so many unknowns as intercollegiate athletics approaches NIL rights for student-athletes.  We were impressed with the breadth and depth of ASP’s experience and services and look forward to working with them as we prepare our student-athletes for these important issues.”

The expert-led ASP team will assist South Carolina in the development of an integrated approach to embracing the impending new era of collegiate athletics with a primary focus on developing and empowering the Gamecocks’ student-athletes. ASP CEO Casey Schwab stated, “This new partnership provides Altius an opportunity to work collaboratively with one of the premier athletic programs in the country on a unique approach to NIL and student education. By leveraging ASP’s expertise and the University of South Carolina’s strong position as an athletic and educational institution, student-athletes in Columbia will be able to fully embrace the possibilities and challenges surrounding NIL.”
