Carolina Welcomes Winthrop to Stone Stadium on Sunday Night
COLUMBIA– Carolina men’s soccer returns to the pitch Sunday night for a 7 p.m. matchup with Winthrop. The Gamecocks are in search of their first victory after an overtime loss to College of Charleston on Thursday night.

BACK IN ACTION
The Gamecocks have a chance to bounce back from an overtime loss (1-0) to College of Charleston on Thursday night.
Carolina had 11 shots, five of which were put on net. Harrison Myring put three shots toward the goal, while Jordan Matthews and Logan Hitzeman each put a shot on net.
Tristan Himes stood his ground in net, making four saves in his first career match.
Tony Annan, the Gamecocks’ new head coach, comes to Columbia after a six-year stint working with Atlanta United where he built the development program from scratch. He was most recently the interim coach for Atlanta United 2, the reserve team for Atlanta United.
Logan Frost provided a spark for the Gamecocks off the bench against College of Charleston. He got off three shots, one of which came on goal. He was a part of multiple Carolina chances late in the match.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Winthrop is coming off a back-and-forth 4-3 victory over Stetson. The Eagles were down a goal with under three minutes to play, but Sean Green notched an equalizer to extend the match. Bryant Jimenez-Pearce scored the game-winning goal for Winthrop in the 99th minute of play.
Jimenez-Pearce totaled three points, scoring the winning goal and assisting on another.
Winthrop’s keeper, Sam Jones, made four saves, but allowed each of Stetson’s three goals.
Daniel Ridenhour is the Eagles’ head man. He is in his fifth season as the head coach, but his 17th as a member of Winthrop’s coaching staff.
