Softball Set for First Road Trip of the Season

CONWAY, S.C. – The South Carolina softball team heads East for its first road trip of the season, as the Gamecocks get set for the Battle at the Beach, February 18-20. While there, the Gamecocks will play Marshall and Fordham once each on Friday and Saturday, before taking on the host Chanticleers Sunday.

• The Gamecocks lead the all-time series against Costal Carolina 56-9, including a pair of wins last season.
• All-time, Carolina is 20-6 when playing against the Chanticleers on their home field.
• The Gamecocks have won four-in-a-row against Coastal, with the last three coming via the run-rule.
• South Carolina is 3-1 all-time against Marshall, with their lone loss coming back in 1995 in a neutral site game in Chattanooga.
• Carolina last faced Fordham in the 2014 NCAA Tournament, winning that game 5-4.
• Their only other meeting with the Rams came in 2006, with the Rams winning it 5-4 in eight innings in Columbia.
• The Gamecocks opened the season at home for the third straight year. Last season the team opened the season with Carolina Classic, but was canceled due to weather.
