No. 3 Gamecocks Face North Carolina in Title Match Monday

Carolina went 2-0 today at the Wolfpack Match Play, losing just one match

RALEIGH, N.C. – No. 3 South Carolina went 2-0 on Sunday at the Wolfpack Match Play to advance to the title bout on Monday. The Gamecocks were dominant, losing just one match all day.

“A solid couple of matches from our group, and very pleased with the experience we are gaining this week,” said head coach Kalen Anderson. “Looking forward to the championship match tomorrow.”
 
Carolina took down Notre Dame 4.5-0.5 in the quarterfinals this morning. Junior Justine Fournand won 6&5, freshman Louise Rydqvist won 5&4, graduate transfer Tai Anudit won 4&3 and Paula Kirner was victorious 1-up. Junior Mathilde Claisse’s match was tied through 15 holes, halving the match.
 
The Gamecocks turned around and defeated Louisville in the semifinals 4-1 thanks to another impressive performance. Fournand was dominant again, winning 6&4. Rydqvist won 3&2. Claisse and Kirner each won 2&1.
 
Carolina faces North Carolina in the championship tomorrow. Claisse will lead things off at 8:50 a.m. (ET). Live scoring will be available via Golfstat.
 
The Gamecocks will be seeking the team’s fifth win of the 2021-22 season, which would be a new program record.
