COLUMBIA - The University of South Carolina baseball team went 2-2 on the week, defeating North Carolina A&T on Wednesday and taking the Sunday game at No. 13 Texas A&M.

COLUMBIA – The University of South Carolina baseball team went 2-2 on the week, defeating North Carolina A&T on Wednesday and taking the Sunday game at No. 13 Texas A&M.

NOTES:
Carolina now has 50 home runs on the season after hitting five blasts in Sunday’s win over Texas A&M. The big hit was Colin Burgess’ grand slam in the fourth frame. Carolina hit seven home runs in the three games against the Aggies.
 
Braylen Wimmer went 6-for-9 with two home runs and five walks in the Texas A&M series. His home run in the ninth inning of Saturday’s game tied the score at 11-all and he hit a home run after Andrew Eyster’s solo shot in the fifth inning of Sunday’s win. Wimmer is hitting .333 on the season with seven home runs and 33 RBI.
 
Will Sanders picked up his seventh win of the season in Sunday’s victory over Texas A&M. The righty struck out three in six-plus innings, allowing three earned runs. Sanders is 7-2 with a 3.87 ERA in 2022.
 
The Gamecocks hit .348 in the Texas A&M series, upping their season total to .272. Braylen Wimmer and Josiah Sightler had six hits apiece and 13 total bases in the three games.
 
The Gamecocks start their final homestand of 2022, hosting USC Upstate on Tuesday and facing Kentucky in a three-game series at Founders Park. Saturday’s game will be on SEC Network and also will be Senior Day. Carolina will honor Brandt Belk, Parker Coyne, Andrew Eyster, John Gilreath and Cam Tringali before the game.
