No. 3 Gamecocks Fourth at Tallahassee Regional

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- No. 3 South Carolina is in fourth after two rounds of the NCAA Tallahassee Regional. The Gamecocks shot 296 (+8) in round two and are seven shots clear of the cutline to advance to the NCAA Championship next week at Grayhawk. The team is just two shots back of third place.

South Carolina’s freshmen duo of Louise Rydqvist and Hannah Darling paced the team on Tuesday. Rydqvist shot 70 (-2) and tied for the lowest round of the day in the 60-player field with UCLA’s Emma Spitz. She made five birdies and was 3-under on the back nine. Darling shot 74 (+2) with a a pair of birdies. Both players sit inside the top-10 on the individual leaderboard.
 
“The team played smart and disciplined golf today on a very challenging golf course,” said head coach Kalen Anderson. “Staying committed to our game plan and playing with conviction around the greens will produce positive results. We are looking forward to competing tomorrow!”
 
Graduate transfer Tai Anudit and junior transfer Justine Fournand each shot 76 (+4) and were the final counting scores for the Gamecocks in the second round. Junior Mathilde Claisse shot 81 (+9).
 
Carolina will be paired with Illinois and Miami for the final round tomorrow at Seminole Legacy Golf Club. A top-four finish would mark the 10th NCAA Championship appearance in 15 seasons under Anderson’s direction. The program had appeared in the NCAA Championship a total of eight times since 1980 before her arrival in 2008.
 
For the third consecutive day, the Gamecocks will tee off at 8 a.m. (ET) on hole one. The team will be paired with Miami and Georgia Southern. Live scoring for Wednesday’s final round will be available again via Golfstat.
