Lewis Misses Cut at NCAA Championship

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Redshirt senior Evans Lewis wrapped up play at the NCAA Championship on Sunday. He shot 79 (+9) in the third round and missed the cut for Monday’s medal round.
 
The Sumter, S.C., native, teed off in the morning wave today and started on the back nine at hole 10. He made par on the first two holes then had five consecutive bogeys, making the turn at 6-over (41).
 
Lewis was even on the first six holes of the front nine with a birdie at the par-5 fourth hole. He finished with three-straight bogeys on holes seven through nine.
 
Washington’s RJ Manke and Oakland’s Thomas Giroux were the only two individuals out of the six in the field to make it through to the fourth round on Monday at Grayhawk Golf Club.
