Men's Soccer Picked Fourth in Sun Belt Preseason Poll

NEW ORLEANS – The South Carolina men’s soccer team was picked to finish fourth in its first season as a member of the Sun Belt Conference it was announced Monday (Aug. 15).

The Gamecocks were picked to finish behind Wester Virginia, Marshall, and Kentucky, all three of which were ranked in the preseason United Soccer Coaches poll. South Carolina was followed by Coastal Carolina and James Madison, Georgia State, Old Dominion, and Georgia Southern.

Carolina enters its second season under head coach Tony Annan coming on a 5-9-2 overall record and was 1-5-2 as a member of the Conference USA. The Gamecocks return all three of their All-Conference selections from last season in Peter Clement, Logan Frost, and Harrison Myring. Overall, the squad returns 10 players from a season ago and features 18 newcomers, which includes five transfers and 13 true freshmen.

South Carolina hosts Gardner-Webb in its final exhibition match of the preseason, Saturday, August 20 at 7 p.m.
