Gamecocks Fifth Late in Round Two at Stephens Cup

Carolina seven shots back of second place as team nears final round at Seminole Golf Club

JUNO BEACH, Fla. – No. 4 South Carolina sits fifth late in the second round of the Jackson T. Stephens Cup. Play was suspended due to darkness as the Gamecocks have three players with several holes yet to play.

Carolina currently sits seven shots back of top-ranked Stanford, who is in the clubhouse in second at 7-under through 36 holes. No. 2 Wake Forest has a commanding lead at 18-under through two rounds. The top two teams will play in the championship match on Wednesday.

The Gamecocks opened today with a 1-under 287 at Seminole Golf Club. Sophomore All-American Hannah Darling and graduate transfer Katherine Muzi each lead the way with 2-under 70s. Muzi turned in a 5-under 31 on the back nine of the course with four birdies and an eagle.

Sophomore All-American Louise Rydqvist (73, +1) and senior Mathilde Claisse were the final counting scores (74, +2).

Darling is 2-under in round two with four holes to play. She’s 4-under overall (T-3rd) and sits four shots behind the Demon Deacons’ Rachel Kuehn who leads at 8-under. Claisse is even with three holes to play and Rydqvist is 2-over with three to go. Senior Justine Fournand is 1-over with one hole to go. Muzi os om the clubhouse with a second round 82 (+10).

Golf Channel will again have live coverage tomorrow and Wednesday from 3 to 6 p.m. (ET).
