No. 24 Women's Soccer to Face Vanderbilt on Friday

COLUMBIA, SC – South Carolina (9-2-3) will make the trip to Nashville, TN to take on Vanderbilt (8-2-3) on Friday. The game will begin at 8:00 p.m. (EST) and broadcast on SEC Network+.

Last Time Out

The Gamecocks most recently defeated Kentucky on Sunday, marking their 10th shutout of the season with a 1-0 victory over the Wildcats.

Junior Cat Barry tallied the loan goal for South Carolina in the 55th minute. Barry’s goal marked the fifth of the season and 19th of her career, tying for the No. 8 spot overall in the record books alongside Angela Austin (1996-99) and Debbie Smith (1995-96). Barry currently leads the team in overall goals (5), points (12), and shots (60). The junior also leads the conference in shots per game.

Jyllissa Harris also put her name into the record books, taking over the No. 1 spot for career starts at 96. Harris also moved to No. 3 overall for games played (97), placing her at No. 5 in the nation.

Scouting the Commodores

Friday’s game against Vanderbilt will be the 31st in program history, with the Commodores leading the series 14-9-7. South Carolina however is 5-0-2 in the last seven meetings.

Vanderbilt fell on the road for the first time in the season, losing 0-3 against No. 9 Arkansas on Sunday. It was also the first time the Commodores have been held scoreless in a game this year. Vanderbilt ended the game with seven shots and three saves. With the loss, they move to 2-2-2 in conference play.
