Gamecocks Conclude Cross Country Season at NCAA Regionals

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Nov. 11, 2022) – The 2022 Cross Country season came to an end for the Gamecocks at the NCAA Southeast Regional as South Carolina placed 16th of 32 teams.

South Carolina was led by veteran runner Hope Dominique who finished 65th overall with a time of 21:41.1, the 31st-fastest time in program history. The next Gamecock finisher was freshman runner Hayden Withers who finished inside the Top-100 of the studded field, coming in at 96th with a time of 22:14.9.

The defending national champions, North Carolina State, claimed the regional with 25 points, placing four runners inside the Top-10. North Carolina finished runner-up with 76 points and will advance with the Wolfpack to the NCAA Championship later this month. The two ACC competitors edged out Virginia (109), Furman (133) and Duke (188) for the top two slots.

N.C. State’s Katelyn Tuohy finished first with a time of 19:49.1, followed by her teammates Kelsey Chmiel (19:58.6) and Samantha Bush (20:08.0) who rounded out the top three runners.
