Gamecock Swimmers in Search of NCAA Qualifying Times at UGA Last Chance Meet
Athens, Ga. – Selected athletes from South Carolina swimming will compete this weekend at the UGA Last Chance Invitational where they will attempt to make NCAA Championship qualifying times.
The Invitational will run Feb. 25-26 with prelims beginning each day at 10 a.m. and finals beginning on Saturday at 5 p.m. and on Sunday at 4 p.m.
South Carolina will be competing alongside athletes from Auburn, Florida State, Florida, Georgia Tech, Florida International, North Carolina State, Hawaii, Miami, Pitt, Gardner-Webb, Alabama, and host Georgia.
The Gamecocks will have entires in both the men’s and women’s 200 free relay and in the men’s 200 medley relay.
For the women, junior Nicholle Toh is in search of a better time in the 100 and 200 fly and will be joined in the 200 fly by sophomore Greta Pelzek. Graduate Victoria Kwan will compete in both the 200 and 400 IM. Senior Janie Smith will try attempt to lower her own school record in the 100 free, and Tatiana Salcutan and Bella Pantano will look to lower their respective times in the 200 back. Pantano will also try for a new time in the 100 back.
For the men, Patrick Groters is in search of a lower time in the 200 IM while Michael Laitarovsky looks to improve his own school record in the 100 back.
