No. 4 Gamecocks Hosting 11th Darius Rucker Intercollegiate Monday

South Carolina Athletics

Golf Channel again providing TV coverage every day live from 2:30-5:30 p.m. (ET)

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – No. 4 South Carolina is aimed and ready for the 11th edition of the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate on Monday. The Gamecocks host the event every year alongside Long Cove Club and Grammy winner and South Carolina alum Darius Rucker.

The practice round is going on today and the teams will attend a private concert by Rucker and his band tonight at the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina.

It’s another elite field with 16 of the 18 teams ranked in the top-25 of the latest Golfstat poll, including 12 top-25 teams and six that are ranked in the top-10.

Sophomore All-American Hannah Darling holds down the top spot in the lineup this week. She’s joined by senior Mathilde Claisse, sophomore All-American Lousie Rydqvist, freshman Mia Sandtorv Lussand and senior Justine Fournand. Graduate transfer Katherine Muzi will compete as an individual this week.

Golf Channel will again broadcast all three rounds of the tournament live from 2:30-5:30 p.m. (ET). The network made history last year as The Darius became the first all-women’s college event to be televised.

No. 2 Wake Forest has won the last two team titles at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate (2020, 2022). Individual champion, All-American Carolina Lopez-Chacarra of the Demon Deacons, returns again this year as well as a number of other players ranked in the top-30 of the latest World Amateur Golf Rankings.

South Carolina made a strong rally last year after a tough start. The Gamecocks shot 1-under as a team over the final 36 holes to take second place, rising 14 spots up the leaderboard from the first round. The team shot 870 (+18) and Wake won with a score of 861 (+9). Claisse paced Carolina with a T-6th finish (214, +1).

The Gamecocks will be paired with No. 3 Oregon and No. 6 LSU for the opening round tomorrow. Fournand will lead things off on hole one at 11 a.m. Live scoring is available via Golfstat each day.

Scoring is usually tough at the event with par a good score. Weather should be a non-issue with light winds, sunny skies and temperatures in the low 80s every day.
