Women's Soccer Picked Third in SEC Preseason Poll

BIRMINGHAM, AL – The SEC released the preseason coaches poll on Tuesday, with the Gamecocks slated to tie for third with Georgia, and the Razorbacks of Arkansas leading the way. The full list can be found here.

South Carolina finished second in the league after the 2023 season, just behind Arkansas. The Gamecocks recorded their fourth season going undefeated in conference play, (5-0-5), and made it to the second round of the NCAA tournament for their 11th consecutive NCAA appearance.

Gamecock fans will see the return of six fifth-year players, including All-American and SEC First Team forward Cat Barry. The team also returns seven starters from last season, highlighted by Barry and SEC Defender of the Year, Gracie Falla.

The Gamecocks bring back 78% of its scoring production from last season, with Barry and rising sophomore Reagan Schubach leading the way in the 2023 season campaign with nine and six goals, respectively. The 2024 team will be led by captains Barry, Lily Render, and Hallie Meadows.

Fans can see the team in action for the season opener on Sunday, Aug. 18 as they take on Furman at 7:00 p.m. in Stone Stadium.
