Gamecocks Conclude Cross Country Campaign in Rock Hill
ROCK HILL, S.C. (Nov. 15, 2024) – South Carolina Cross Country saw its 2024 campaign come to an end in Rock Hill, S.C. at the NCAA Southeast Regional on Friday morning.
The Gamecocks finished 11th overall at the regional meet for the second consecutive year after not recording a Top-15 team finish since 2012 when they finished 10th overall. South Carolina finished with 296 points overall, the best point value since moving to the 6K regional meet in 2000.
As she has done all season, Teresa Cherotich led the way for the Garnet & Black as she finished 13th overall with a time of 20:51.3. The Kenya product posted the sixth best individual finish by a Gamecock at the Southeast Regional but fell just short of qualifying for an at-large spot into the NCAA Championship.
Cate Conklin was the next best runner for the Gamecocks, finishing 42nd overall in her first Southeast Regional meet, running 21:38.2. Conklin was followed by Anya Arroyo who ran 22:08.0 to finish 71st overall in the field. Emma Torbert was not far behind Arroyo, finishing 77th after clocking 22:13.8. Mary Frances Iseman was the final scorer for the Gamecocks, running 22:37.7 in her first regional competition, finishing 104th overall.
N.C. State won the team title and the individual title at the regional meet with Grace Hartman finishing first with a time of 20:04.2. The Wolfpack captured 60 points overall, followed by Virginia in second with 85 points and North Carolina in third with 119 points.
