Nine Gamecocks Set to Play in College All-Star Games This Week

Nine University of South Carolina football players will take part in college all-star games this week.

Six former Gamecocks will take part in the 100th edition of the East-West Shrine Bowl, set for Thursday, January 30, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The contest will be televised nationally on the NFL Network with game time set for 8 pm ET (7 pm CT).

Former Gamecocks O’Donnell Fortune, Tonka Hemingway, Kai Kroeger, Raheim Sanders and Josh Simon will play for the East team. Fortune will wear number 20, Hemingway will don number 96, Kroeger will wear his familiar 39, Sanders will dress in number 35 and Simon will wear number 86. Bam Martin-Scott was a late addition to the contest. He will play for the West team.

The head coach for the East squad will be Marquice Williams from the Atlanta Falcons. Shane Bowen from the New York Giants will lead the West.

Three former Gamecocks will compete in the 12th Annual Reese’s Senior Bowl on Saturday, February 1 at Hancock Whitney Stadium on the University of South Alabama campus. The longest continual-running all-star game has taken place in Mobile, Ala. for the past 76 years. Game time is set for 2:30 pm ET (1:30 CT) and the game will be televised on the NFL Network.

Kyle Kennard, Demetrius Knight Jr. and T.J. Sanders will represent South Carolina on either the National or American squad in the annual all-star game.

Cleveland Browns Assistant Head Coach and Special Teams Coordinator Bubba Ventrone (American team) and New York Giants Offensive Coordinator Mike Kafka (National team) will serve as head coaches.
