
Men’s Tennis Faces Clemson on the Road
COLUMBIA, S.C. – The No. 17 South Carolina men’s tennis team continues the 2024-25 Palmetto Series for the Gamecocks on the road, traveling to Clemson on Fri., Feb. 7 for a 5:00 p.m. dual match against the Tigers.
Gamecock Notables
- The Gamecocks enter this match on a three-game win streak with a 5-2 record, most recently picking up a pair of victories at their doubleheader last Wednesday where they shutout both Queens and Charleston 7-0 at home.
- All three doubles duos of Casey Hoole/Sean Daryabeigi, Lucas da Silva/Max Stenzer and Gabe Avram/Cole Henceroth earned two wins at the doubleheader.
- The freshmen have had a strong showing thus far in the dual match season as Avram (4-0), Henceroth (3-0) and Stenzer (4-0) are undefeated in singles.
- South Carolina moved up a spot from last week’s team rankings and now sits at No. 17 for the ITA Top 25 Coaches Poll. In the ITA’s latest edition of singles rankings released on Feb. 5, Daryabeigi and Jelani Sarr sit at 66th and 105th respectively.
Scouting the Tigers
- Clemson is currently undefeated in dual matches this season, facing the Gamecocks tomorrow with a 5-0 record.
- The Tigers are coming off of an impressive 5-2 win over a then-No. 16 Michigan State. Clemson clinched the doubles point and never looked back, winning four singles matches in straight sets to pick up its fifth consecutive win of the season. Sophomore Noa Vukadin picked up a huge ranked win, defeating No. 8 Ozan Baris.
- The closest match the Tigers have had so far this season was a 4-3 win over FAU on the road. The team has won every other match by at least three points including a shutout 7-0 win against The Citadel.
- While the team is currently not ranked, the Tigers have three tabs across the ITA singles and doubles lists. Vukadin (No. 51) and Wissam Abderrahman (no. 118) represent the team in singles while Vukadin and Maxwell Smith sit at No. 36 for doubles.

- The Gamecocks and Tigers have a lengthy series history that dates back to 1925.
- South Carolina leads the all-time series record 72-42-2, claiming the past nine consecutive wins.
