Equestrian Opens SEC Play Back Up with Texas A&M

COLUMBIA, SC – Eighth-ranked South Carolina Equestrian (2-3, 0-3) opens SEC play back up with No. 4 Texas A&M (5-3, 1-2) at home on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 11:00 a.m. The meet will also feature the annual Equifest celebration, with roping and grooming stations, a photo booth, giveaways and more.

LAST TIME OUT

The Gamecocks defeated Lynchburg in a jumping seat only meet, taking down the Hornets 8-2. South Carolina swept both available MOPs, with Natalie Jayne taking one home for her 90 on the Flat, and freshman Amira Kettaneh earning her fourth of the season in Fences for her 86. Kettaneh’s fourth MOP ties for the most as a freshman in Fences in program history, and Jayne picked up NCEA Flat Rider of the Month for January.

SCOUTING THE AGGIES

Saturday’s matchup will be the 37th in program history, with the Aggies leading the series 27-9. The Gamecocks’ last win against Texas A&M came in 2020 (Feb. 8), with South Carolina taking the victory in dramatic fashion after coming out on top in raw scores following a 10-10 tie in overall points.

The Aggies head into the meet most recently being upset by No. 7 SMU on the road, 6-13.
