
Gamecocks Host UNCW for Friday Match
COLUMBIA, S.C. – The No. 17 South Carolina men’s tennis team continues its season on Fri., Feb. 14, hosting UNCW for a 1:00 p.m. dual match.
Parking will not be available in the pit, fans are encouraged to park in metered spots or park at the indoor tennis center and walk over.
Gamecock Notables
- The Gamecocks enter this match with a 5-3 record, coming off a tough loss to in-state rival Clemson on the road this past Friday.
- Clemson swept South Carolina 7-0. The Gamecocks struck first, winning a doubles match but the Tigers retaliated by claiming victories on courts 1 and 3 to secure the doubles point. South Carolina continued to fight in singles action as Atakan Karahan and Casey Hoole won their first sets while Connor Thomson, Sean Daryabeigi and Lucas da Silva came back to win second sets after dropping their firsts. Clemson advanced to 2-0 following Marko Mesarovic topping Jelani Sarr in straight sets. The Tigers then took off, picking up wins on the remaining five courts.
- Daryabeigi has a solid 5-2 singles record in dual matches so far this season. Gabe Avram (4-0), Cole Henceroth (3-0) and Max Stenzer (4-0) remain undefeated in the singles matches they have played. In doubles play, Daryabeigi and Hoole enter Friday’s match with a strong 4-1 record.
Scouting the Seahawks
- UNCW is 3-1 this season, coming off of a dominant 6-1 win over North Florida in the Seahawks home opener.
- Harold Huens is currently undefeated in singles, earning his third victory against the Ospreys. Sam Nicholson was named Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Player of the Week following his performances at the home opener.
- The Seahawks are 0-1 against SEC opponents as they fell to Florida in Gainesville 2-4 at the beginning of the month.

- South Carolina leads the all-time series record 4-1.
- The last time the two programs faced each other was in 2021 when the Gamecocks swept the Seahawks 4-0.
