CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The South Carolina softball team hits the road for the first time this season when the Gamecocks travel to Charlotte to take on the 49ers Tuesday at 5 p.m.

  • The 2025 season is the 52nd season for the Carolina Softball team.
  • South Carolina entered at No. 21 in the NFCA/USA Today poll. They are ranked in all four of the polls, coming in at No. 22 by Softball America and No. 24 by ESPN/USA Softball and D1Softball.com.
  • For the first time in program history every game will be televised on the ESPN family of networks and digital platforms.
    • Carolina is one of only two programs in the nation to have every game televised (Georgia).
  • The 15-0 start to the season is the best start in program history during the NCAA era, surpassing the previous mark of 12-0 in 1996.
    • The best record to start a season in program history was 20-0 in 1976.
  • Jori Heard was named the SEC Player of the Week (Feb. 24).
    • Heard went 3-0 on the week with a 0.00 ERA. She struck out 12 over 15 innings pitched, allowing five hits and two walks.
    • Opposing batters hit .100, while she did not allow an extra base hit.
    • Heard ranks 4th in the nation in shutouts, 5th in wins, 6th in WHIP, 10th in ERA, and 17th in hits allow per 7 innings.
  • Quincee Lilio has reached based in all 15 games this season and has a 14-game hitting streak.
    • She also has 8 multi-hit games on the season.
    • Lilio ranks 2nd in the nation in on-base percentage, 8th in batting average, 9th in hits, and 11th in the nation in walks per game.
  • Ella Chancey has also reached base in all 15 games this season.
    • She ranks 17th in the nation in doubles per game.
  • Karley Shelton has reached base in 13 straight games and Arianna Rodi in 10.
    • Shelton ranks 12th nationally in runs per game.
    • Rodi ranks 8th nationally in walks per game.
  • The Gamecocks tied a program record with 12 walks against North Carolina.
    • It was the second time this season with double-digit walks.
  • South Carolina has out-scored their opponents 127-22 on the season, including 34-0 in the fourth inning alone.
  • Carolina had the nation’s longest run-rule streak of nine games end against UNLV.
  • As a team the Gamecocks lead the nation in doubles, on base percentage, and walks.
  • They also rank 3rd in double plays, 4th in doubles per game, RBIs per game and shutouts, 5th in ERA, and 9th in total runs.
  • They also rank in the top-20 in six other categories: batting average, double plays per game, fielding percentage, scoring, total sacrifice flies, and WHIP.

NON-CONFERENCE SUCCESS IS NOTHING NEW FOR SC

  • South Carolina is 287-73 (.797) over the past nine years in games outside the SEC. Notable wins include Clemson, Boston U, Utah, Texas, Penn State, Houston, Arizona State, North Carolina, Florida State, California, Virginia Tech, USF, Long Beach State, Hofstra, Liberty, and UCF.
  • Carolina will play 33 non-conference games in 2025, 28 of which will be played at Carolina Softball Stadium.

SOUTH CAROLINA HISTORICAL RECORD

  • South Carolina has played 2,651 games in its softball history, going 1,708-936-7 (.646) in its 52 years of history.
  • Carolina has posted 30 or more wins in nine of the past 11 full seasons.
  • Carolina has protected home well, also, with 17 or more victories coming in friendly confines each of the past 10 full years.
