Ford Placed on Pre-Nationals Bowerman Watch List

COLUMBIA, S.C. (March 5, 2025) – South Carolina star sprinter, JaMeesia Ford, continues to make headlines as she was announced to the Pre-Indoor Nationals Bowerman Watch List, as announced by The Bowerman Advisory Board on Wednesday afternoon.

 This is the third consecutive Bowerman Watch List to open the 2025 season for Ford. The South Carolina sprinter was named to seven Bowerman Watch Lists in 2024.

The Bowerman debuted in 2009 and is named after former Oregon Head Coach Bill Bowerman and is presented annually to the most outstanding male and female NCAA track & field athletes in the nation.

Ford repeated as the SEC Indoor Champion in the 200m over the weekend in College Station, Texas, while also finishing runner-up in both the 4×400 meter relay and the distance medley relay. She was able to run 22.36 in the preliminary round at the SEC Indoor Championship, before clocking 22.44 for the win and a spot on the First Team All-SEC. Ford ran the third leg of the Gamecocks’ runner-up 4x400m squad, clocking 49.85 for the fastest third leg in the world all-time rankings and the sixth fastest performance of any 4x400m relay when including all four legs.

Heading into the NCAA Indoor Championship next week in Virginia Beach, Va., Ford currently ranks atop the NCAA leaderboard and the world leaderboard in the 200m with a time of 22.34. The North Carolina native also ranks inside the Top 10 in the 400m, running 51.31.

Joining Ford on The Bowerman Watch List are Silan Ayyildiz (Oregon-Mid Distance), Aaliyah Butler (Georgia-Sprints), Rachel Glenn (Arkansas-Hurdles/Jumps), Tacoria Humphrey (Illinois-Jumps), Axelina Johansson (Nebraska-Throws), Doris Lemngole (Alabama-Distance, Amanda Moll (Washington-Pole Vault), Hana Moll (Washington-Pole Vault), Juliette Whittaker (Stanford-Mid Distance).

The next installment of The Bowerman Watch List will be on Wednesday, March 26 for the women and Thursday, March 27 for the men.

Ford and the Gamecocks will return to action next Friday, March 14 and Saturday, March 15 at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Virginia Beach, Va. Following the NCAA Indoor Championship, South Carolina will open the outdoor season on Saturday, March 22 in the Weems Baskin Invitational in a day that will also serve as Senior Day.
