
Wright Named to SEC Community Service Team for Second Time

Four-year letterwinner from Fort Mill, S.C. led the team in service hours this season
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Senior guard Jacobi Wright was named to the 2025 SEC Men’s Basketball Community Service Team the league office announced on Thursday. It his second appearance on the team in his four seasons as a Gamecock.
Wright, a four-year letterwinner from Fort Mill, S.C., led the team in service hours again this season and has the most cumulative service hours during his time as a Gamecock. Wright made several trips to local schools in conjunction with the Boys & Girls Club of the Midlands and also the Richland County Recreation Commission. He’s also been an active participant in the Safe Haven Leadership Camp and the Real Men Read program where student-athletes visit elementary schools to discuss the importance of reading.
Wright has played in 126 games with 54 starts over the course of his career in Garnet and Black. His 126 career games played are ninth in school history. He averaged 7.3 points as a sophomore in 2022-23 helping the team to road wins at Ole Miss and LSU.
As a junior in 2023-24, Wright averaged 5.9 points and 2.0 assists per game, helping the Gamecocks to a 26-8 record and a return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2017. The team was 8-0 when he scored in double figures. He had a season-high 14 points in the team’s 79-62 blowout win over No. 6 Kentucky at home and made the game-winning bucket in overtime of the team’s win at Missouri, the program’s first victory there since 2017.
This season, Wright has played in 30 games with a career-best 29 starts, averaging 7.8 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. He’s scored in double-figures 10 times and had a career-high 20 points against No. 5 Alabama on Jan. 8.
The Gamecocks conclude the regular season on Saturday afternoon at No. 4/4 Tennessee (24-6, 11-6 SEC). Dave Neal (pxp) and Jon Sundvold (analyst) will be on the call for the SEC Network broadcast.
