South Carolina Athletics
Will be the team's first of two tournaments over the Spring Break period
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – No. 14 South Carolina is back in action to kickoff its Spring Break this weekend at The Hayt (March 8-10). It’s a solid field at Sawgrass Country Club that features five top-20 teams ranked in the latest Clippd Scoreboard Poll: the 14th ranked Gamecocks, No. 4 Texas, No. 8 North Carolina, No. 9 Virginia and No. 18 Alabama.
Senior All-American Nathan Franks has the top spot in the lineup this week. He’ll be joined by sophomore transfer Brock Blais, freshman Marek Fleming, junior Zach Adams and sophomore Bo Carpenter. Freshman mid-year enrollee Emil Elkjær Petersen will compete as an individual for Carolina this week.
Blais, who returns to his hometown this week, is fresh off a career-best solo fourth finish in the team’s spring opener at the Puerto Rico Classic (Feb. 10-12). He fired a career-best, 54-hole score of 204 (-12) en route to helping the Gamecocks to a third-place finish in a strong field. Fleming won SEC Freshman of the Week honors after he finished in the top-20 at the Puerto Rico Classic thanks to a 54-hole, career-low score of 210 (-6).
First round action gets underway Saturday morning with live scoring available via Clippd the duration of the event.
