
Franks Finishes Third, No. 14 Gamecocks Sixth at The Hayt

Senior All-American logged his sixth career top-five finish today in his best performance of the season so far
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – No. 14 South Carolina finished sixth at The Hayt on Monday at Sawgrass Country Club. The Gamecocks shot 869 (+5), finishing five shots back of No. 5 Virginia. Teams battled tough rainy conditions with high winds the last two days and several weather delays.
Senior All-American Nathan Franks had his best performance of the season, leading the team with a solo third finish at 6-under (216). He shot 68-70-72 this week with 13 birdies and two eagles. It’s his first top-five finish of the season and the sixth of his career.
Junior Zach Adams finished just outside the top-20 with 54-hole total of 218 (+2). Freshman Marek Fleming shot 220 (+4) to finish T-37th and sophomore transfer Brock Blais shot 221 (+5) to finish T-43rd in his return to his hometown.
Sophomore Bo Carpenter shot 227 (+11) and freshman Emil Elkjær Petersen shot 231 (+15).
The Gamecocks, who are on Spring Break this week, will remain in the Jacksonville area to practice before heading to the Linger Longer Invitational at Reynolds Lake Oconee.
