
Rydqvist Named SEC Golfer of the Week After Win at Long Cove

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Senior All-American Louise Rydqvist was named SEC Golfer of the Week on Wednesday the league office announced. The four-year starter from Värnamo, Sweden was co-champion of the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate last Wednesday at Long Cove Club.
She shares Player of the Week honors with Arkansas’ Kendall Todd, who she also shared the title with at the event. They were the only players in the 90-women field to post a 54-hole total under par in difficult scoring conditions.
It’s the third career SEC Golfer of the Week honor for Rydqvist.
She helped the No. 5 Gamecocks to a T-1st finish with No. 22 LSU as she shot 212 (-1) with scores of 72-69-72. Rydqvist had a stretch of three-straight birdies on holes 13 thru 15 on the back nine of the final round to push her way to the top of the leaderboard.
Rydqvist finished T-3rd in the field in par-5 scoring average (4.67, -3) and T-5th in par-3 scoring average (2.83, -2) at the event, which featured 12 top-25 teams and six teams ranked inside the top-10.
It was the All-American’s second career win, her second top-five finish of the season and the 11th of her career 35 starts in Garnet and Black
