
No. 17 Gamecocks, Franks Take Fourth at Linger Longer Invitational

Senior All-American from Roebuck, S.C. fired a career-low 64 (-8) in the final round to secure his second consecutive top-five finish
GREENSBORO, Ga. – No. 17 South Carolina finished fourth at the Linger Longer Invitational on Tuesday. The Gamecocks shot 12-under (852) as a team to earn the team’s sixth top-five finish in seven events so far this season.
Senior All-American Nathan Franks fired a final round bogey free 64 (-8) to climb 13 spots and secure his second-straight top-five finish. He made an eagle and six birdies today, posting a 54-hole total of 208 (-8). Franks’ 64 today was a new career-low score.
The Roebuck, S.C., native now has seven career top-five finishes, which is T-10th all-time in program history with Keenan Huskey (2014-18), Carl Paulson (1989-93) and Rick Williams (1987-90).
Freshman Marek Fleming put together another solid performance with his third top-20 finish of the season. He T-16th at 2-under (214) with a career-best score of 67 (-5) in the opening round on Sunday.
Redshirt junior Frankie Harris, who has battled a plethora of injuries, made his return to the lineup for the first time this spring. He finished just outside the top-20 shooting 1-under (215) over the course of 54-holes. The Boca Raton, Fla., native shot a career-best 64 (-8) with nine birdies in the first round, which gave him a share of the 18-hole lead.
The Gamecocks played well in rounds one and three this week at The Landings Course at Reynolds Lake Oconee but did not have counting score at par or better in round two as the team slipped from T-2nd back to fifth.
Carolina has two more regular season events, hosting the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate (March 23-25) next week and then concluding the season at The Invitational at The Ford (April 14-15) prior to the start of the SEC Championship (April 23-27).
