Stone's Complete Game Lifts Baseball Past No. 11 Ole Miss
COLUMBIA – Brandon Stone threw a nine-inning complete game Thursday night (April 17) to lift the University of South Carolina baseball team over Ole Miss, 3-2, at Ray Tanner Field at Founders Park.
Stone, who threw Carolina’s first nine-inning complete game since Brett Kerry against Kentucky in 2021. Stone scattered six hits, striking out four and allowing two runs with no walks in the nine innings. He threw just 86 pitchers, 61 for strikes.
In the first, Jordan Carrion drove in Nathan Hall, who doubled in the leadoff spot, with an RBI groundout to give the Gamecocks the early 1-0 lead. Ole Miss responded in the third with a solo home run by Austin Fawley to even the game 1-1.
Carolina added to its lead with two runs in the fifth off back-to-back RBI singles from Gavin Braland and Hall. The Rebels, again, connected for a solo home run to bring the game back within one. However, Carolina’s early offense would be enough to win the game.
Hall had two hits, including a double, and one RBI to lead the Carolina offense.
