NOTES:
Brandon Stone went all nine innings on Thursday night in a 3-2 win over Ole Miss, scattering six hits and allowing just two runs with no walks and four strikeouts. It was Carolina’s first complete game since Noah Hall against Georgia in 2023 and the first nine-inning complete game since Brett Kerry at Kentucky in 2021. Stone needed just 86 pitches for the complete game, with 61 of those for strikes. Stone helped the Gamecocks to a series win over Ole Miss this past weekend.
Nathan Hall was instrumental in Carolina’s 7-2 win over Ole Miss on Friday afternoon. He hit his sixth home run of the season in the second inning, then had a big two-run single in the eighth to give the Gamecocks insurance to complete the series clinching win. Hall leads Carolina with a .358 batting average and has a team-best 10 doubles to go along with 32 RBI.
Jake McCoy also had a strong outing on Friday night, striking out seven and allowing just three hits and a run in 6.1 innings to pick up his fourth victory of the year. Caleb Jones and Ashton Crowther pitched after McCoy and combined to allow just one hit in 2.2 innings.
Crowther is on a mini-run that continued in the Ole Miss game on Friday night. Crowther retired all four Rebels he faced and has now retired 18 of the last 19 batters dating back to the Thursday night game against Texas A&M.
Carolina hosts UNF to conclude a five-game homestand and travels to Kentucky for a three-game series starting Friday night.
