No. 20 Gamecocks Begin Postseason at SEC Championship Wednesday

South Carolina Athletics

South Carolina seeking fourth match play appearance this week and first since 2021 at Sea Island Golf Club

SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – No. 20 South Carolina is set to compete in the 2025 SEC Championship starting Wednesday, its first postseason event under new head coach Rob Bradley. Sea Island Golf Club’s Seaside Course will play home to this year’s championship again for the 24th year.

This year’s conference tournament marks the eighth-straight year in which the event will feature both stroke play and match play. Teams will play 54-holes the first three days to determine an Individual SEC Champion. There will be a cut to the top-eight for match play which begins with the quarterfinals on Saturday morning.

Semifinal matches will take place after the quarters on Saturday with SEC Network+ providing TV coverage beginning at 3:30 p.m. (ET) live from Sea Island Golf Club. The championship match will take place Sunday morning and be aired live on SEC Network. This marks the sixth-straight year the network has provided TV coverage.

This SEC Championship again features one of the deepest fields in the nation this season as college golf’s primer conference. Ten of the 16 teams in the field this week rank in the top-25 of the latest Clippd Poll. The top-three teams in the nation all hail from the Southeastern Conference: No. 1 Ole Miss, No. 2 Auburn and No. 3 Texas.

It’ll be the same five-man lineup for the Gamecocks this week with redshirt junior Frankie Harris in the top spot joined by senior All-American Nathan Franks, junior Zach Adams, sophomore Brock Blais and freshman Marek Fleming. Redshirt freshman Ismael Encinas will serve as the team’s substitute and sixth man.

Carolina has put together a strong first season under Bradley with a top-20 ranking and eight top-five finishes in the team’s nine stroke play events during the regular season.

Since the championship switched to the new match play format in 2017, the Gamecocks have a trio of match play appearances with the last coming in 2021.

Fleming will be the first player off tomorrow at 8:50 a.m. (ET) from hole 10 for Carolina. The Gamecocks will be paired with Tennessee and Mississippi State for the opening 18 holes. Golfstat will have live scoring all week long here.
