Four Gamecocks to Participate in 2025 USA Basketball 3X Nationals

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – USA Basketball announced today the 2025 USA Basketball 3X Nationals will be May 2-4 at Arizona Athletic Grounds (AAG) in Mesa, Arizona. The event will feature up to eight men’s and 16 women’s teams, including some of the best 3×3 players in the country, vying for national titles.  South Carolina’s squad will consist of Joyce Edwards, Chloe Kitts, Tessa Johnson and Maddy McDaniel.

Edwards is no stranger to USA Basketball, earning a gold medal with the 2023 FIBA U19 Women’s World Cup team, averaging 12.6 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.1 blocks leading her to All-Star Five honors. In 2024, Edwards was a member of the USA Women’s Nike Hoop Summit team that defeated the World Select squad 83-80. She led the team in points (25; 9-23 FG, 7-11 FT) and rebounds (9), tied for the most assists (2) and logged 5 steals. She was also named to the 2024 Women’s U18 National Team and participated in the U17 and U16 National Team Trials in Colorado Springs (2021, 2022).

Kitts has earned two gold medals in her time with USAB, first in 2022 at the FIBA Women’s U18 Americas Championship and again in 2023 at the FIBA U19 Women’s World Cup. On the 2023 U19 squad Kitts averaged 10.7 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 19.1 minutes over seven games.

Previously, McDaniel participated in the 2024 USA Women’s U18 National Team trials (2024), and named to the 2024 USA Women’s Nike Hoop Summit Team. In 2023 McDaniel attended the Women’s Junior National Team April minicamp in Dallas.

This will be the first USA Basketball appearance for Tessa Johnson.

3X Nationals will tip off May 2 with preliminary rounds and will continue through Sunday’s medal round games. Teams will be seeded based on preliminary records before entering bracket play. Game action is set to stream live on Friday, Saturday and Sunday on X (formerly Twitter) and YouTube.com/USABasketball.

3X Nationals is free and open to the public. To ensure a great experience for all fans, free tickets can be reserved here.

The full schedule, list of teams and rosters will be updated here.

3X Nationals will serve as an evaluation for selection to various future USA Basketball 3×3 men’s and women’s national teams, including the 2025 FIBA 3×3 World Cup, set for June 23-29 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, and roster spots for USA Basketball 3×3 World Tour, 3×3 Women’s Series, 3×3 U23 Nations League and 3×3 U23 World Cup teams.

Played on a half court with a 10-minute clock and a 12-second shot clock, the first team to 21 points, or the team in the lead at the end of regulation, is the winner.
