Rydqvist, Galitsky Selected to Team International for 2025 Arnold Palmer Cup
South Carolina Athletics
Congaree Golf Club in Ridgeland hosting the prestigious event June 5-7 in The Lowcountry
ORLANDO, Fla. – Senior All-American Louise Rydqvist and standout freshman Eila Galitsky were named to Team International for the 2025 edition of the Arnold Palmer Cup as the teams were announced live on Golf Channel Tuesday night. Rydqvist, a native pf Värnamo, Sweden, will be making her second consecutive appearance on the squad while Galitsky, a native of Chaing Mai, Thailand, will be making her Palmer Cup debut.
Congaree Golf Club in Ridgeland, S.C. is set to host the event this summer June 5-7 in what will be the second time the Palmetto State has hosted the prestigious, Ryder Cup-style team event. Cassique on Kiawah Island hosted the tournament in 2003. Longtime Arnold Palmer partner Rolex is continuing its more than 50-year relationship through its support of the matches.
Thirty-two different universities will be represented on Team USA and Team International. South Carolina is one of 10 schools with multiple selections.
Head coach Kalen Anderson was tabbed Co-Head Coach for Team USA alongside Auburn’s Nick Clinard back in December. Anderson is the first Gamecock coach on the men’s or women’s side to earn the coveted honor for one of amateur golf’s premier events.
Galitksy becomes the sixth different Gamecock player to play in the Arnold Palmer Cup joining Rydqvist (2024), senior All-American Hannah Darling (2024), former All-Americans Pauline Roussin-Bouchard (2020, 2021), Lois Kaye Go (2019) and Ainhoa Olarra (2018).
Rydqvist and Galitsky both recently helped lead the Gamecocks to the program’s first SEC Championship since 2002. The duo finished in the top-10 in stroke play and both went 3-0 in their matches help the Gamecocks hoist the trophy for the second time in program history. South Carolina continues its postseason march next week as the No. 1 seed at the NCAA Charlottesville Regional (May 5-7).
Rydqvist (No. 8) and Galitksy (No. 17) are each ranked inside the top-20 of the latest World Amateur Golf Rankings.
About the Arnold Palmer Cup
The Arnold Palmer Cup was co-founded by Arnold Palmer and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) and began at the Bay Hill Club & Lodge, Orlando, Fla., in 1997. The event is a Ryder Cup-style tournament featuring the top men’s and women’s university/college golfers matching the United States against a team of International players. The Palmer Cup has been played at some of the world’s greatest courses, including The Old Course at St. Andrews, The Royal County Down, Royal Portrush, Baltusrol, The Honors Course, Cherry Hills, and Lahinch. Beginning with the 2018 matches at Evian Resort Golf Club, the Palmer Cup is the only major tournament that features men and women playing side-by-side as partners.
Since its inception, over 245 former Arnold Palmer Cup alumni have gone on to earn cards on the PGA, DP World, or LPGA Tours; 46 have represented Europe/International or the USA in the Ryder Cup, Presidents Cup, or Solheim Cup and more than 95 have claimed over 435 victories on the PGA, DP World, LPGA, or Ladies European Tours. The United States leads the Palmer Cup series 15-12-1.
More than a showcase of golf skill, the Palmer Cup acknowledges and rewards character as well, in line with the principles of its founder and the Arnold & Winnie Palmer Foundation. Arnold and Winnie Palmer championed causes that were not just about golf, but possible because of golf. They devoted their time away from the game to philanthropy — focused especially on young people — and created a model for other modern athletes to use their influence in service to others. The Arnold & Winnie Palmer Foundation continues the Palmer tradition of impactful philanthropy by uniting the generosity of golfers and fans everywhere to make a difference.
The Arnold Palmer Cup is part of the foundation’s missions to promote youth character development and foster the growth of amateur/collegiate golf. For more information, please visit arnoldpalmercup.com.
