Logan Lefler announced as head coach of Gamecock Cheer Team
Today, South Carolina Athletics has announced that Logan Lefler will become the next head coach of the Gamecock Cheer team. Logan is replacing Erika Goodwin who has spent the last 21 years as head coach of the cheer team.
“Erika has been an integral part of the Carolina family over the past 21 years. I am thankful for her tireless dedication to the Gamecocks and our cheer team. She has helped elevate our game day experience and has helped set the program up for continued success.”
Logan brings a significant amount of experience to Columbia. During college, he cheered at Texas Tech and would go on to win three ICU World Championships with USA Cheer after graduating. He has coached multiple National Champion High School teams in Texas and has spent over 18 years with UCA as a summer camp director and over 15 years as an Event Director/Staff Manager for Varsity Brands. He has spent the last three years at Oral Roberts University as their Spirit Coordinator and Head Cheer Coach and served as an Assistant Cheer Coordinator at TCU for three years prior to that.
“Cheerleading is such a unique industry that has allowed me to travel the world and make friends in the most unexpected places. USC is another new chapter for me, but it already feels so familiar. Everyone I’ve met throughout this process has been incredibly helpful, welcoming and supportive. My family and I are excited for the opportunity to call South Carolina home, and I look forward to building on the program’s strong foundation as representatives of the community and University.”
“I look forward to Logan joining us in Columbia. He has a proven track record of building a strong foundation and elevating programs to the next level. He will be an important part of our team as we continue to elevate our game day experience.”
